Fall Has Rolled Into The Valley

Down in the valley where I live...autumn is rolling in! I decorated my front porch in honor of it. The winds here have been blowing for three days now and it certainly feels like Fall. It's grey outside and is definitely making me feel like staying in the house and get it ready for the cold months ahead. It's a good day to light a scented candle and fireplace while preparing some comfort food for dinner tonight. Have a cozy day! ~amy

Pow Wow

I found this vintage salt and pepper shaker and I had to get it for the cottage. I thought it would be perfect! It amazes me the detail that went into vintage ceramic salt and pepper shakers. Can you imagine buying a salt and pepper shaker today that had such detail? I don't think you can? Look how vibrant the colors are. I know I said this salt and pepper shaker is for the cottage but until it's built...I have this piece displayed in my kitchen. Every time I look at these two Indians in their canoe...I smile. How can you not? ~amy

Roar In The Mountains

In our small town when an event makes its way to it...Kurt and I have to check it out. So this past weekend we went to the 2009 Annual Roar In The Mountains. Actually...we're not bikers but we appreciate and like to experience anything we can. After all biking is a big industry and pastime for many people. Below are a few images I took of the event. The weather for it was picture perfect. A few cool nights though.

This is a custom made motorcycle hearse. Something huh?

Plenty of musical entertainment through out the event.

A lot of bikes...naturally.

I mentioned to Kurt...which by the way that is him having a cold one...that if I were to buy a bike this is the one I would like. A three wheel beauty!

...and then I saw this one! Oh... this would be the one. Look at the color and it has 3 wheels to boot!

Kurt loves pork barbecue and his favorite barbecue restaurant named 'Clems' was serving there. He was very happy!

It was nice seeing all of these bikes but personally if I had my choice...I'd rather be driving this vintage convertible mustang home. How about you...vintage mustang convertible or mortorcycle?

Vintage Fabric

Thank you Suzanne from Colorado Lady for hosting Thrifty Thingy Thursday.
I had a very fun shopping trip. I was looking for finds to accessorize our cottage. In a previous post I already showed you the vintage horse prints shown here. I'd like to show you in greater detail the vintage retro fabric that I found that has an outdoor Canadian theme. We're not Canadian but our land that we'll be building our cottage on is 1hour from Quebec, Canada. I just about went crazy with excitment when I found it. I originally thought I would use it as a tablecloth but now I think it will make a cute window treatment for the kitchen. There are several different outdoor scenes printed on this piece of fabric. I took a picture of each scene separately for you to see. I can't get over how vibrant the colors are and the detail. Have you ever seen so many different graphics on one piece of fabric? I hope you think this fabric is as crazy cute as I do! ~amy

Bidding Farewell To Summer

Thank you Susan from A Southern Daydreamer for hosting another fun Outdoor Wednesday!
Over Labor Day weekend we had perfect weather to bid summer farewell. It really could not of been more beautiful. I hope you enjoy the last images of summer I'll be sharing with you this year. They were taken in Lake Placid, NY strolling along Mirror Lake up in the beautiful Adirondacks. Sad to see summer go but for every season that ends a new one begins. I look forward to autumn and all that it will bring. Click on the pictures for a larger view. Sorry the pictures are right on top of each other. I don't know why this happens. I usually like to leave a space between each image but sometimes it doesn't let me. If anyone has had the same thing happen to them and knows how to fix it... I would love to hear. ~amy

What Do You Think?

I saw this Cocker Spaniel figurine and had to buy it. It reminded me of my Cock-a-poo named 'Tupper'.

Do you see a little bit of a resemblance?

Let him pose a little differently. Now do you see it?

Vintage Green Cottage Shelf

Thank you Suzanne at Coloradolady for hosting Vintage Thingie Thursday!

Below is my latest vintage find and I'm so happy to have found it! Since...we're planning to build a vacation cottage I'm planning on incorporating this into my kitchen above one of the cabinets. I don't know if I'll paint it a different color or just keep it this lovely vintage green. What do you think? We found this at a moving sale in Keene, NY for cheap, cheap! Much less than an upper cabinet would cost...don't you think? I explained in an earlier post...I'm hunting down treasures for our cottage that we'll build someday. I hope to incorporate all of my finds into the cottage and show you the whole house decorated with my treasures. Until then...I'm continuously on the hunt! Happy hunting to you! ~amy

Adirondack Dreaming...Another Step Closer

Thank you Susan from A Southern Day Dreamer for hosting another fun Outdoor Wednesday!

I mentioned in a few posts back that it is our dream to build a small vacation home up in the Adirondacks.
Well...way up north in the high peaks of the beautiful Adirondacks is a parcel of land we can now call our own. This past Friday Kurt and I closed on a piece of land that some day we would like to build a vacation cottage on. We've drawn up a rough house plan and now we wait until the time is right to build. Below are a few snippets of our parcel of land. We spent Labor Day weekend up there enjoying the perfect weather and dreaming. So far we searched for the right piece of land. Purchased it. The next step will be to get utilities on to it...then to build our cottage. One step at a time. Did I mention that the weather was purrrrfect? ~amy
