Impulsive Buying

I'll be linking to Vintage Thingy Thursday hosted by Suzanne at Colorado Lady.

While walking with my friend Joan last year...we stopped by a store that sold antique lamps and chandeliers.  I saw these miniture oil lamps and thought they were SO cute and I impulsively bought them.  Actually...now that I have them I really don't know what to do with them.  I hate when that happens!  See how I have them bunched up in a group off to the side on the bottom shelf of my cabinet?  They range in size from just under 5" to 8" tall.  I'm assuming they were originally used for night lights?  If anyone has an idea of what they were used for I'd love to know?  Any ideas how I can display them?

Those are soooo cute! I would've bought them also. They need to get out of that cabinet! I would display them in a group.

Thanks for sharing!

Your lamps are gorgeous such deep vibrant colours. Do you have a window sill deep enough to display them on?
The daylight shining through would look lovely.

That is a great collection of lamps. I have not seen those in a long time.

Sometimes when I'm in a new place I get swept away with the surrounds..then get home and realize that what I bought doesn't jive. Does that make sense?

I think you can definitely work those into your decor. Group them and put them at different heights, maybe? I bet you'll love them.

I don't know whether those are antique or 1970s vintage. I had a small oil lamp in the 1970s that was new when I got it and these remind me of that.

Is there somewhere where you can display them and they will catch sunlight? I think they're great, and they would look amazing with the sun shining through them!
Happy VTT!

These are so pretty, I would maybe look for a long shelf, they would look lovely on a quilt rack shelf, with a beautiful colorful quilt under the shelf....love the colors. Happy VTT!

you're on the right track grouping them...maybe put a couple on books so there'll be more height differentiation?

great finds!!!!

These are really cute Amy. I like the idea of grouping them somewhere so that light could shine through - a deep windowsill or even a backlight somewhere? I'm sure you'll find a great way to display them. Kathy

I wouldn't have been able to resist them either, they're just cute as can be. I love the colors and I like the windowsill idea. Something to let the light sparkle off the colors..

I had a friend who collected those little oil lamps too. She displayed hers on the fireplace mantle.

Those are the cutest little lamps. I can just imagine them all lit. You must light them and take a photo so we can see. So sweet~!

I was thinking they would look great down the middle of a dining room table, at the holidays, with greens around them and ribbons to evoke the jewel tones of the shades. - or on a mantle piece the same way. Just MHO.
